Zostavax® Linked to Serious and sometimes Life-Threatening Side Effects
According to the National Vaccine Information Center, 775 people were hospitalized and more than 100 people died as a result of getting a shingles vaccination. Zostavax® is linked to the life-threatening conditions encephalitis and meningitis as well as an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. The FDA has also warned that Zostavax® may actually cause shingles and may lead to vision and hearing loss. If you suffered shingles or other serious side effects, or if a loved one died, you may be owed significant compensation from the manufacturer. Call the Gold Shield Group at 877-539-1539.
How Zostavax® Works
Zostavax® (Zoster Vaccine Live) works by helping the body’s immune system fight the varicella zoster virus that causes shingles. Only people who had chickenpox in the past or received the varicella vaccine can develop shingles later in life. Once the varicella zoster virus is in the body, whether as a result of chicken pox or the Zostavax® vaccine, it remains dormant in the body and can become active again when the immune system is weakened.
