If you have been diagnosed with mesothelioma or a loved died from mesothelioma, you may be entitled to a cash award.
A $30 billion-dollar trust was set up by asbestos manufacturers to compensate victims and the families of victims of mesothelioma. Claims are paid out in the order they are received, so the sooner you file a claim the sooner your claim will be processed. To learn more, call the Gold Shield Group at 888-275-8196.
Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that develops after exposure to asbestos. This exposure typically occurs in the workplace, but can also occur when people are exposed to asbestos from the clothing of family members who were exposed to asbestos. Symptoms may not appear for 20 to 50 years after the initial exposure. Although the Environmental Protection Agency banned most asbestos-containing products in 1989, much of that ban was later overturned.
Exposure to Asbestos
Places where asbestos exposure happens include, but are not limited to:
• Construction sites
• Power plants
• Oil refineries
• Chemical refineries
• Aboard Navy ships
• Auto repair shops
• Households of people exposed to asbestos at work
What is Mesothelioma?
Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that can occur in the lining of the chest, lungs, heart, and abdomen. The disease is most often caused by inhaling asbestos fibers. If asbestos fibers reach the lining of the abdomen, lungs, or heart, the fibers irritate the cells causing the lining to thicken. This will often cause fluid to build up, often resulting in a cough or flu-like symptoms. Eventually, tumors develop and put pressure on the organs.
Can Mesothelioma be Treated?
Treatment options include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and a few experimental treatments such as gene therapy, but these treatments are not considered cures. Sometimes when mesothelioma is caught early treatment will result in remission, but most people who get mesothelioma do not survive. Nearly 2,500 Americans die from mesothelioma every year.
