Demes Gourmet Recalls Chicken Sausages Due to Misbranding

PorkJune 5, 2015 – Demes Gourmet Corporation is recalling 29,052 pounds of pork and chicken products due to misbranding.  The chicken sausages were wrapped in hog casings that was not listed on the labels. Hog casings can cause allergic reactions in those allergic to pork proteins.

These products were produced on dates between Sept 17, 2014 and June 1, 2015. The following products are subject to recall:

  • 18 pound cases of 12 ounce tray packs of “Panama Sweet Chicken Longanisa”

The recalled products bear the establishment number P-2888 inside the USDA Mark of Inspection. Those items were shipped to retail stores in California. The issue was discovered when a FSIS member conducted a routine food safety assessment of the company’s products.
