$300 Million Settlement proposed for people suffering side effects from Benicar®, Benicar HCT®, Azor®, or Tribenzor®.

A proposed settlement of $300 million has been set up for people who suffered gastrointestinal problems or kidney failure after taking high blood pressure medications with the active ingredient olmesartan medoxomil including Benicar®, Benicar HCT®, Azor® and Tribenzor®. Under the specific terms of the settlement, only people who started taking one of these drugs before May 1, 2015 and have signed a retainer agreement with an attorney by the end of the day on August 23, 2017 will have an opportunity to take part in the settlement.

The most common side effect of these high blood pressure drugs is chronic diarrhea. Chronic diarrhea can in turn lead to dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, and malnutrition due to the body’s inability to absorb nutrients. The long-term effects of these conditions include fatigue, dizziness, drowsiness, and confusion. Left untreated, these long-term effects can be life-threatening.
